Sales Account Representative II – Large Group Sales

Location: This position will work in a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of our Elevance Health Pulse Point location in South Portland, Maine.

Compensation: Base Salary + Sales Incentive

The Sales Account Rep II is responsible for supporting the Account Manager III or Account Manager III Sr in the retention of large local groups or national accounts. May also support the new sales team. Conducts meetings with group employees who have a choice of carriers and promote, sell, persuade, and influence associates to enroll in our products.

How you will make an impact:

  • Advises clients on developing and designing specific benefit plans that will best suit the client's needs.

  • Directs and coordinates benefit design issues and modifications with Operations and Membership Implementation staff in support of client needs.

  • Analyzes client needs and develops, designs, or implements product improvements or additions to increase sales.

  • Negotiate with the client and Underwriting regarding the price or rates for specific plans and options and develop alternative plans or modifications to lower the rates.

  • Negotiates the quotes and works with members and brokers related to the actual selection and sale. Research reasons for client decisions regarding the company and competitor products.

  • If the competitor's product is more favorable, make recommendations to change company products or pricing.

  • Sells, promotes, and influences companies or clients to add additional products or services to the existing account (upsell).

  • Acts on behalf of the Account Manager to respond to client proposals and decision-makers during the negotiation and selection process.

  • Responsible for projects outside the department on matters of significance with the authority to represent the department.

  • Develop relationships with existing accounts, members, and brokers and respond to inquiries.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

  • A sales license is required to be obtained and appointed within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Experience

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to negotiate expectations between multiple parties are strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to resolve complex issues in a fast-paced and high-demand environment is highly preferred.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, decision-making, and adaptability are highly preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, most notably PowerPoint for creating presentations, Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word is strongly preferred.

  • Possesses experience in utilizing Salesforce or any other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.

  • The ability to travel up to 20% is strongly preferred.
